Talking Books Service

The Central Library hosts The Wichita Subregional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, which serves Sedgwick County and all of southeastern Kansas. For qualified customers it provides recorded books and magazines and loaned playback equipment. Any Kansas citizen that is certified as print impaired due to a visual or physical condition may apply for Talking Books Services.

If you are eligible and wish to sign up for Talking Books, you must complete an application and have it signed by a certifying authority (a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy). An online version of the application [pdf] is available here. Print, complete, and return the application by mail or in person. Faxes are not acceptable. Call the Talking Books office at 261-8500 for details or help.
