Wichita Genealogical Society
WGS was formed in 1987 by a group of family researchers, genealogists, and historians dedicated to preserving and sharing genealogical material. Additionally this group had a desire to promote the growth of the Genealogy Department of the Wichita Public Library, making it a premier research center in Kansas. Toward that end, its incorporation is as "A Support Group to the Wichita Public Library."
The goals of the Society include staffing the Genealogy Department of the Library with member volunteers who work with the librarian and assist patrons with their research questions; providing beginning to advanced genealogy classes; conducting study groups; holding workshops and seminars presenting nationally known genealogical authorities.
The Wichita Genealogical Society keeps a web site on the Internet. If you are interested in joining, check out the membership information.
